Q Share responses and questions you have after reading Russell (Preface, Introduction, and chs. 1-2), Holloman (chs. 1-2), and Saucy ("Heart" lectures 1 and 2), especially after reviewing and responding to the Personal Inventory. Share and/or interact with others about what caught your attention about biblical literacy. • What evidence from your own experience have you seen of either biblical illiteracy (Russell) or a "sanctification gap" (Saucy Lecture 1)? • What new or different aspects of sanctification (spiritual formation) did Holloman introduce? • What is a genre? • If hermeneutics is the "study of the activity of interpretation," what might genre-based hermeneutics entail? • Describe the natural heart and the heart that God desires. • Describe your time with God as you considered the Personal Inventory and your heart. Write a substantive initial post responding to these questions by 11:59 p.m. Friday. Then respond substantively to at least two group members' posts by Sunday, 11:59 p.m. For more direction as to the types of discussions we are hoping to foster in this class, view the grading rubric by clicking the gear icon in the upper right, then click "Show Rubric" in the menu.

Low church attendance is a reason for “sanctification gap”. Low church attendance will always lead to lack of understanding of the parishioners about God’s word. This is because there will always be focusing on other things. Moreover, the interpretation of the priest/pastor of the church about God’s word in the Gospel cannot be listened to by parishioners not attending church regularly. There is lack of interest shown by many Christians in completely getting engrossed to live a Christian life. There is also compromise of ethics shown at times by Christians to benefit them more than benefitting other individuals.
